St. Paul, Minn. | January 8, 2023 – Greg Larson, president and CEO of Drake Bank, has been selected as a member of the American Bankers Association’s (ABA) Government Relations Council.

ABA has always been at the heart of the innovations that have helped bankers serve their customers. Committed to making sure banks of all sizes stay on the cutting edge of innovation, ABA  actively supports and promotes technological advancements that make banking services more efficient, convenient, and secure.

The Government Relations Council (GRC) represents a broad cross-section of the banking industry by size, geography, and charter type. The GRC develops recommendations on positions and priorities regarding legislative and regulatory issues that are then presented to the ABA Board of Directors for approval. GRC Members are active advocates for the policy positions of the ABA legislative and executive branch members.

The incoming ABA Chairman makes appointments to the GRC, which are effective at the beginning of the Association year. A Chairman and Vice Chairman lead the GCR, and membership typically consists of two representatives from each state.

“It is both an honor and a privilege to serve on the ABA Government Relations Council. Our regulators and elected officials play crucial roles as partners in ensuring that legislative changes are both safe and sound for all financial services providers and beneficial for clients,” said Larson. “Having a seat at the GRC table and serving as a voice for ABA members entails a tremendous responsibility that I wholeheartedly embrace.”

The GRC is a critical part of ABA’s decision-making process. Members of the Committee also play an essential role in communicating ABA’s policy positions and priorities to their fellow bankers.
