Laura Gevik HeadshotSt. Paul, Minn. | February 12, 2021 – Twin Cities Business (TCB) Magazine – a leading resource for business news, insight, and inspiration – announced Laura Gevik, senior vice president, chief operations officer at Drake Bank, as one of 22 Notable Women in Commercial Banking honorees.

TCB’s 22 Notable Women in Commercial Banking were already responsible for managing trillions of dollars at some of Minnesota’s largest commercial banks and institutions. Add in a global pandemic and they were also responsible for steering clients through the complexities of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and other Covid-19 assistance programs, helping to keep Minnesota companies afloat in an especially difficult year,” wrote Twin Cities Business staff writer.

The individuals featured as Notable Women in Commercial Banking were drawn from nomination materials provided in November 2020. To qualify for the list, individuals must self-identify as a woman; be serving in a senior level commercial banking role at their company, bank, or institution in Minnesota; have at least five years of experience in the field; and have shown the abilities to create significant, positive, and measurable results in their field.

Since joining Drake Bank in May 2020, Gevik has been an integral part of pushing the Bank to be finely tuned and high-performing by creating and adopting repeatable systems of operation and control and enhancing the services provided to clients and team members. Gevik has led and implemented many projects for the Bank, including financial reporting remodeling, migrating to a modernized HR platform, planning an expansion, implementing and streamlining new products, forming and activating the Bank’s IT Committee, executing a strategic cybersecurity plan, and remodeling the compliance and audit functions. Along with others, these initiatives have enhanced the onboarding and open enrollment experience, saved over one-third of the projected expansion costs, and increased the Bank’s core deposits by double-digits, all of which are vitally important for the Bank’s future vision.

“Laura draws from a rare combination of leadership strengths, which balance visionary insight to aim high and the energy and sense of responsibility to get things done with results,” said Greg Larson, President & CEO at Drake Bank. “Laura’s vision for continuous process improvement as a journey, not an end, will continue to set the Bank up for growth in building a better future.”
