Encrypted Email Guide
In today’s digital landscape, email is often used to exchange personal and confidential information. Drake Bank uses Encrypted Email through Microsoft to help ensure that only intended recipients can view personal and confidential information sent via email.
Encrypted Email works with Microsoft (Outlook), Gmail, Yahoo, and other email services.
Receiving Encrypted Emails – Microsoft/Outlook
- You will receive the encrypted email just like any other email message. The email will include an alert showing that the email is encrypted.
- You can view the message details, download attachments, and reply to the email as you would normally. If you reply to the email, it will be sent encrypted.
Receiving Encrypted Emails – Non-Microsoft
If your email provider is Gmail, Yahoo, or any other non-Microsoft service, follow these steps:
1. You will receive an email notification with instructions on how to open the encrypted email. Select ‘Read the message’ to start the authentication process.
2. Choose an authentication process via your email provider or a one-time passcode.
-
- Email provider login: select ‘Sign in’ and follow the steps to log in.
- One-time passcode: you’ll receive an email with a passcode from Microsoft Office 365 Message Encryption. Enter the code and select ‘Continue.’ Passcodes expire after 15 minutes.
3. Once signed in, the encrypted email will display, and you can view the message details, download files, and reply. If you reply through the portal, it will be sent encrypted.
