Summary: 

Conducts credit investigations and analyzes credit information at the request of various lending officers pertaining to loans. Makes recommendations regarding credit analysis to loan officers and/or loan committee. Prepares loan write-ups and summaries. Performs miscellaneous financial analyses such as account, profitability, and yield analysis. No lending authority other than NSF approvals. Acts as a trainer and mentor for less-experienced credit analysts. Partners with AVP Credit Administration to accomplish department priorities and projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved with extending credit to both commercial and consumer borrowers

  • Generates financial ratio summaries using the Bank’s existing software systems and analyzes them based on industry averages.
  • Prepares credit presentations documenting new or proposed lending transactions for approval.
  • Prepares annual review presentations for approval.

Review real estate appraisals and property evaluations

  • Reads and analyzes valuation reports.
  • Completes review forms and obtains approvals.
  • Files, tracks, and delivers approvals and/or reports to necessary team members and clients.

Leadership 

  • Analyzes and underwrites complex loan scenarios.
  • Trains and mentors less-experienced analysts.
  • Archives financials into Director.
  • Oversees borrowing base certificate (BBC) tracking and financial reporting tickler systems.
  • Monitors loan exceptions.
  • Oversees annual review and loan maturity tracking.
  • Contributes to the department’s strategic goals, responsibilities, and projects.
  • Develops individual knowledge to add depth to the department.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assists with special projects and additional functions as needed

Regulatory Compliance Requirements:

  • Demonstrates current and accurate understanding of loan-related compliance (RESPA, REG Z, TRID, HOEPA, HPML, FLOOD, FACTA, REG B, HMDA, Fair Credit Act, etc.) along with BSA/AML/OFAC, Bank Security, and others.
  • Continually enhances knowledge of regulatory and compliance issues by completing all required online training, attendance at in-house training presentations, and possibly external training at times.
  • Performs all job functions in accordance with Federal and State regulations and within banking policies.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience with demonstrated competency.
  • Five or more years of credit analysis or related banking experience.

Knowledge / Skills Required:

  • Ability to accurately calculate and analyze figures and amounts included in financial statements (i.e., cash-flow calculations, leverage ratios, collateral coverage ratios, etc.) and provide a clear summary of those calculations.
  • Ability to analyze the financial performance of borrowers and provide a clear and concise summary of findings/results thereof.
